TikTok Events API for Shopify

TrackBee sends enriched, server-side conversions to TikTok through the Events API, so the algorithm keeps optimising on complete data even when the pixel misses the sale.

Built for Shopify. Live in about 5 minutes. No pixel code to maintain.

The problem

TikTok is optimising on incomplete data

iOS privacy limits, ad blockers and short session times mean your TikTok pixel misses a big share of conversions. Browser pixels miss around 30 to 60 percent of conversions, so TikTok's algorithm trains on a partial picture and your budget works harder than it should.

  • Your pixel misses conversions to iOS restrictions, ad blockers and browser limits, so TikTok never sees the full result of your spend.
  • Weaker match quality means the algorithm trains on partial data and optimises less efficiently.
  • Rising cost per acquisition, plus attribution gaps between TikTok and Shopify that erode confidence in channel performance.
How TrackBee fixes it

Your Shopify data, delivered to TikTok

Three things working together, so TikTok gets a complete, clean signal, without you touching pixel code.

Server-side Events API

TrackBee sends conversion events straight from Shopify's servers to TikTok through the Events API, so ad blockers and iOS limits do not sit between the sale and the signal.

Higher match quality

TrackBee enriches every event with first-party data (hashed email, phone, IP and user agent), so TikTok can match more conversions to the right ad interactions and optimise on real results.

Automatic deduplication

TrackBee dedupes pixel and server-side events for you, so TikTok never double-counts. Complete data in, accurate optimisation out.

Built-in feature

Separate new and returning customers in TikTok

Turn it on and TrackBee adds a NewCustomerPurchase or ReturningCustomerPurchase event to every order, next to the regular Purchase. Both carry the order value, so you see what each campaign brings in from new and from returning customers.

NewCustomerPurchase

Fires when someone buys from your store for the first time. See how many new customers each TikTok campaign brings in, and what each one costs you.

ReturningCustomerPurchase

Fires when an existing customer buys again. Keep repeat orders out of your acquisition numbers and see what your retention campaigns bring back.

How to turn it on

  1. 1Open your TikTok setup in TrackBee.
  2. 2Enable "Segment new vs returning customers" (the last step) and click Finish.
  3. 3Wait for your first order from a new and from a returning customer.
  4. 4In TikTok Events Manager, create a custom conversion for each event and map it to Purchase.
  5. 5Add both conversions as columns in TikTok Ads Manager.
Good to know: TikTok only lists an event after it has received it once, and that can take a few hours. Read the step-by-step guide.
Profit optimization

See profit on ad spend in TikTok

With profit optimization on, TrackBee sends a PurchaseProfit event with every order. Same order, but with the profit as its value instead of the revenue, so you can read POAS for every TikTok campaign.

How we calculate profit

Order total minus your product costs. The costs come from the "Cost per item" field in Shopify, plus the cost fallbacks you set in TrackBee.

What you see in TikTok

A Purchase Profit conversion next to your normal Purchase. Put them side by side and you see which campaigns make money, not only which ones make sales.

How to turn it on

  1. 1Open your TikTok setup in TrackBee, enable Profit optimization (the last step) and click Finish.
  2. 2Wait for the first order to come in.
  3. 3In TikTok Events Manager, create a custom conversion called "Purchase Profit - TrackBee" with the PurchaseProfit event, mapped to Purchase.
  4. 4Add it as a column in TikTok Ads Manager and compare it with your spend.
Good to know: for accurate profit, fill in the cost per item for your products in Shopify. Read the POAS guide.
FAQ and support

Questions about TikTok and TrackBee

TrackBee uses TikTok's Events API to send conversion data straight from your Shopify servers. Events are delivered reliably regardless of browser restrictions, ad blockers or iOS privacy settings that would normally block the TikTok pixel.

No. TrackBee uses TikTok's built-in deduplication. Each event includes a unique event ID, so if both your existing pixel and TrackBee report the same conversion, TikTok counts it only once. You can safely run both in parallel.

No. You can keep the existing TikTok pixel as a backup for retargeting and audience building. TrackBee's server-side events work alongside it, with deduplication making sure nothing is double counted. Most merchants keep both running for maximum coverage.

TrackBee sends all standard TikTok events, including ViewContent, AddToCart, InitiateCheckout and CompletePayment. Each event is enriched with first-party data (hashed email, phone, IP and user agent), product details and order value for maximum optimisation signal.

Yes. TrackBee identifies first-time and repeat buyers from your Shopify customer history and sends a NewCustomerPurchase or ReturningCustomerPurchase event to TikTok with every order. You turn them into custom conversions in TikTok Events Manager once, then report on acquisition and retention separately.

Yes. Turn on profit optimization for TikTok and TrackBee sends a PurchaseProfit event with every order, with the profit (order total minus product costs) as its value. Create a custom conversion for it in TikTok Events Manager and you can compare profit with spend per campaign.
